June 5th is Constitution Day. It marks the day the Danish constitution was signed (surprisingly enough). The day is used by most if not all the politic parties to speak at gatherings etc.
The former leader of the Social Democrats and Prime Minister candidate Mogens Lykketoft held a speech at a local cultural center.
Here’s a couple of pictures from today.

Erhm … Don’t worry .. It’s not me going on maternity leave.. A cafe or sorts for people on maternity leave opened a few days ago, so I was assigned to cover the first day of the cafe being open.
Now…. Most photographers would agree on this. I hate it when the journalists dictate how they want the photos. I mean I don’t tell them how to write their stories. So I expect them to let me do my job. That’s what I’m hired to do anyway..
With that said, there’s nothing wrong with ideas or input on what they would like to see. But stil I expect room to roam so to speak.
An example.

There’s nothing wrong with the typical group photo, but it’s just rather boring in my mind. I know that shooting for a local newspaper, sometimes it’s all about having as many people as possible in the frame because people will recognize somebody, or they will show parents or grandparents the paper if they are in it (source to more readers eh?). But I prefer to do something else most of the time.
Danish hockey player Jannik Hansen made his NHL debut in the Stanley Cup Playoffs with Vancouver Canucks. He went on to play 10 games with the Canucks.
He’s currently at home and the local newspaper made an interview with him. So I was assigned to shoot a portrait of him. The time was pretty limited and in no way what I wanted, but I think it turned out decent.

In a few weeks the yearly “city festival” takes place. There’s always a beer tent of sorts with live music and entertainment. I was assigned to shoot a photo of one of the bands playing.
The name of the band is ‘Morphar and the lady killers’. In english that’s Grandpa and the lady killers.
It was an awesome assignment. A bunch of fresh young guys willing to do just about anything which is a nice diversion from old dusty senior citizens.
