Hockey season started

So the hockey season finally started and despite administrative problems and players getting released do to financial problems, the Mighty Bulls have gotten off to a great start winning the first four games.

Here’s a slideshow from the latest home game. To the english readers/viewers I apologize for the audio being danish/swedish.

Game Seven on Tuesday

Mighty Bulls went on to win the next two games and had the lead 3-2 in games going into game 6 tonight. They lost 1-0 in a terribly boring game, so for the second year in a row it’ll have to be decided in a game seven between the same two teams as last year. Last year Frederikshavn White Hawks stunned the Mighty Bulls scoring two goals with a 60 second span within the last two minutes of the game.

Hopefully it’ll be different this year. Here’s some photos from games four and five.

Game2: Whitehawks 5, RMB 3

Yesterday was game two of the quarterfinals. Frederikshavn Whitehawks went ahead 3-0 by the end of the first period more or less deciding the game after 20 minutes. A second period rally made it exciting as Rodovre Mighty Bulls got within range and made it 3-2 by the end of the second. A fluke goal made it 4-2 and all hope was out. Series is now tied at 1-1.

Anyway yesterday’s game was so intense I can’t remember seeing a game where a scrum would occur after just about every whistle. Here’s a couple of snapshots from the scrums.

Game1: RMB 4, Whitehawks 3

As mentioned playoffs started Monday. And what a game.. In the first 90 seconds or so, 5 penalties had been called. Talk about over-excited players on the ice. It was typical playoff atmosphere on the ice. The Rodovre Mighty Bulls won 4-3 despite being in front 4-1.

Tomorrow it’s game two in Frederikshavn…. Hello looooong drive.

Playoffs start tomorrow!

It’s the time everybody’s looking forward to. Regular season is in the bag, and now the playoffs await us. Rodovre Mighty Bulls will again this year square off against Frederikshavn White Hawks in a rematch of last year’s quarter finals. This time hopefully with the Mighty Bulls victorious.

I gotta be honest. I’m excited as hell. I’m ready. Here’s probably my best shot from the regular season. I know it’s a bit out of focus but still one of my favorite shots.

Shooting NHL hockey

Last week I was in Vancouver to cover the first potential meeting between two danish hockey players in the NHL. Unfortunately one of the guys suffered a pulled groin just days before I left so the odds was against me but I took the trip anyway. The guy didn’t get ready so I only got pictures of one of the guys.

Anyway as I’ve been raving about before the light here in Denmark is horrible so it’s always a nice change to go to an arena where the lights are actually a priority.

Plus when you’re shooting at ice level they have cut out holes to shoot through.

It leaves you with clear photos and no blur caused by the glass or anything.

I also got to shoot my first fight… I was actually lucky enough to get a fight each of the two games I covered. I was hoping for it when I was in Manitoba last year where I got none, so this was a nice change of events.

Hockey season around the corner

Yes indeed. It’s that time of year again. The time where I start flooding the blog with hockey photos for your pleasure. The Mighty Bulls have started their preseason games getting ready for game one of the 2008-2009 season, starting Friday September 12th.

Friday they hosted Troja/Ljungby, a team from the Swedish Allsvenskan division. A pretty intense game ending 2-1.

This past month I spent three of the four week on vacation, recharging the batteries for the next couple of months which are usually the hardest during the week. The vacation was much needed!
